Last night's 3-0 shutout victory for the St. Louis Blues over the Carolina Hurricanes was a glimpse into a crystal ball. There was an impressive showing from their youth, and a potential 1-2 punch could be forming with two of their highest prospects.

Both Jimmy Snuggerud and Dalibor Dvorsky got on the board against one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and could have built some hope into a franchise that is floundering at the moment. Both players notched their seventh goal of the season, on a team that has really struggled with putting the puck in the back of the net.

The future could be here already, and the Blues might not even know it.

Snuggerud and Dvorsky are coming into their own

Last season, both Snuggerud and Dvorsky made their NHL debuts near the end of the season, with Snuggerud gaining the spotlight. As the Blues were constantly winning at the end of the season to get into the playoffs, and then taking the Presidents' Trophy winners, Winnipeg, to a game seven, No. 21 was a pivotal part of it.

Dvorsky did not get much of a chance, as his stint was only two games. He needed more time in Springfield last season and was also a part of the AHL roster for the beginning of the 2025-26 season. It wasn't until Robert Thomas went down with an injury in the first month of this season for Dvorsky to get another chance, and he has made the most of it by not being sent back down.

Each has shown an ability to play at this high a level, and on separate lines from one another. All the while, both players are manning the top power-play unit, mirroring each other at both face-off dots. This has all the makings of a great 1-2 punch, once the torch is passed by the current holders of Thomas and Jordan Kyrou.

As time has gone on, both Snuggerud and Dvorsky have been quick learners. With the disappointment shown from this season, this could be a valuable lesson for them to endure these harder times, to then flourish when this team is primed to make a set of Stanley Cup runs. This franchise is going to be leaning on these two forwards hard in the future, and their development might have just reached its peak.
