As the winless preseason campaign continues, the St. Louis Blues host their home finale against the Ottawa Senators before the start of the regular season. With that said, the roster sheet looks like it could be an early glimpse of opening night.

Let's highlight three of those players here.
Milan Lucic
With a full-stacked lineup like that, it looks like that could very well be the opening night lineup against the Minnesota Wild on October 9. Only one player, however, might not be a part of it. That player is Milan Lucic.
Lucic, who came to the Blues this training camp and preseason on a PTO, has appeared in a few games so far. His impact has been noticeable, but not enough to warrant a full-time spot. At the age of 37, it is highly doubtful that he would spend some time in Springfield and be a two-way player between both the NHL club and AHL club, so this might be Lucic's last shot to make the NHL roster.
Jordan Binnington
After backup Joel Hofer played all three periods in the Blues 5-3 loss to Dallas on Tuesday night, Jordan Binnington slides back into goal. It seemed as though the Blues might have made a mistake not letting goaltending prospect Colten Ellis get a rep in during the last game, but there is a good chance that he gets some action tonight if Binnington plays only two periods.
Binnington has been hot so far this preseason, and the hope is that this is momentum to a strong start to the 2025-26 regular season.
Logan Mailloux
With only two more opportunities to prove your worth, defenseman Logan Mailloux has to make whatever playing time counts. He has a steady preseason so far, but with Hunter Skinner playing his heart out as well, the decision for opening night for the third defensive pairing could be made with the last two games.
Mailloux was acquired by giving up an integral part of the Blues future, Zack Bolduc. There is no reason why he can't make the opening night roster.
