The NHL has a few days off before the Stanley Cup FInal begins, and they've started to the announce the winners for some of the key individual awards. They got things started on Monday with the Selke Trophy.

The Selke Trophy is awarded annualy to the forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game. It is typically won by centers, although some wingers have been in the conversation over the years.

Aleksander Barkov ran away with his third Selke Trophy with linemate Sam Reinhart as the runner-up. The St. Louis Blues didn't have any players among the cream of the crop, but a few forwards received votes down the ballot.

Top-line center Robert Thomas was the Blues forward to receive the most voting points. He received four votes in total: one third-place vote, one fourth-place vote, and two fifth-place votes. That gave him a total of 10 voting points for the Selke Trophy.

Thomas ascended to superstar status with 81 points (21 goals, 60 assists) in 70 games last season with solid underlying metrics and defensive play, as shown by the votes he received.

The Blues added Dylan Holloway with an offer sheet last summer and it paid off nicely as the winger found a home in St. Louis. He broke out with 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points in 77 games with the Blues, and he garnered two fourth-place votes (t-26th) for the Selke.

Finally, Blues winger Jordan Kyrou received one fifth-place vote, tying him with six other players for 37th in Selke voting. He had 70 points (36 goals, 34 assists) and a plus-23 rating despite some inconsistency while playing in all 82 games last season.

Rick Meagher (1990) and Ryan O'Reilly (2019) remain the only St. Louis Blues forwards to win the Selke Trophy.
