Three players to watch as Blues visit the Montreal Canadiens

The Blues finally got a win last night in Ottawa, and hope to get a second today against the Habs.

Well, whaddya know? A win! It wasn't pretty, but the St. Louis Blues managed to pull off a grueling 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. The Blues are back at it on the road today against the Montreal Canadiens, who started the season red hot but have been just okay the last few weeks. The Canadiens are 15-9-3 on the season, holding down third place in the Atlantic Division and a crowded Eastern Conference; they're 5-4-1 in their last 10 games and coming off a 2-1 win of their own against the Toronto Maple Leafs yesterday.

Let's get into who to keep an eye on tonight.

Brayden Schenn

The captain of the team got his first point in four games--an assist--in last night's game against the Sens. We're highlighting him here not for that, though; we're keeping an eye on Schenn because Jordan Kyrou is likely to miss today's game. That means there's a winger spot available in the top six and, while the Blues aren't short on options, Schenn might make the most sense to move up the lineup.

Logan Mailloux

It's been an up-and-down season--literally--for Mailloux, as he's bounced between the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL and the big club in the NHL, and has found himself healthy scratched on a number of occasions. He's a young defenseman, so growing pains are to be expected, but this will be his first trip back to Montreal as a Blue, and surely he'll want to show his old team they were wrong to let him go.

Zach Bolduc

He may not be on the Blues anymore, but Bolduc has been doing pretty well for himself in Montreal. Bolduc started off hot, but he's slowed down since the start of the season; in total, he's scored six goals, has six assists, and 12 points in 27 games played. While he's currently in a fourth-line role, he could play up the lineup if required.

As a bonus, we're going to highlight Alexandre Texier, too, who signed with the Canadiens after the Blues terminated his contract. He won the game for the Habs in the shootout last night, too.
