The St. Louis Blues seek revenge on the opponent that recently blew them up for six straight goals, the Detroit Red Wings. Now on the second half of a back-to-back, after losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night, 6-3.
There were a number of moves made with the injuries to Robert Thomas and Jake Neighbours, and it was working out, slightly. Joel Hofer continues to falter by allowing two goals in the first minute of the game, but he finished the game out with a bit of a stronger effort before losing to Sidney Crosby on a breakaway to put the game away.
Now onto Detroit, but this time on home ice, the Blues look to flip the script with these three key players.
Pius Suter
With the injury of Thomas, there was a large hole in the center of the lineup versus Pittsburgh, and with Neighbours out as well, only Jimmy Snuggerud was the normal first-liner. Pavel Buchnevich joined in on the left side, and Pius Suter moved over to the first line center spot.
Suter was a good fit, but not a complete replacement of Thomas. Against Crosby, he was able to hold his own at the faceoff dot, winning 60% of his draws, but did not register a shot on goal. Against Detroit, there is a good chance that Thomas won't be able to go again, so Suter will be the guy again. Can he build off his solid first outing on the first line?
Jordan BinningtonĀ
After Hofer was not able to keep the Blues in the game against Pittsburgh, it is likely time for Jordan Binnington to cycle back in. This time, he can be the sole reason why the Blues defeat the Red Wings and claim revenge on the monumental loss earlier this week.
Binnington has a record of 2-3-1 with a save percentage of .872% and a Goals Against Average of 3.12. Entering the 10th game of the 2025-26 season, it is time for the franchise goaltender to get back in his groove. Can Binnington shut out the last game's collapse?
Jordan Kyrou
Currently on a seven-game point streak, Jordan Kyrou has started to heat up. He has three goals and four assists over that span, with one of those goals scored against Detroit.
Kyrou has excelled thanks to his new linemate, Mathieu Joseph, who has silently been a great forward for the Blues. The speed of both of those wingers has made the second line one of the better trios in this lineup.
Can Kyrou make it eight straight, and this time help the Blues avoid five straight losses?
