Well, Blues fans, this is it. The Blues are playing the Calgary Flames tonight and Thursday. St. Louis needs to take three or all four available points in these next teams to clearly insert themselves into the Wild card conversation. Here are three players to watch for in tonight's game.
1. Jake Neighbours
The Blues have decided to move Neighbours up to the top line, replacing Brandon Saad. To be honest, it was puzzling as to why Saad was playing on the first line in the first place. He's not that caliber of player at this point in his career.
Neighbours will bring physicality and a willingness to go to the dirty areas of the ice, the complete opposite of Brandon Saad's playstyle. Hopefully, this promotion will ignite something in Neighbours, whose production has dipped a bit from last season. Let's hope being back on the line that allowed him to score 27 goals last year will get him going.
2. Tyler Tucker
A little unorthodox, right? I believe this is the first time Tucker has been among the three players to watch series. It's because he's been playing some very underrated hockey since being recalled. He scored a goal and made some very impressive passes in the Minnesota Wild game.
Not known for much besides his physicality, Tucker has shown a little bit of everything lately. Perhaps he has a little bit more to his game than any of us thought.
3. Jonathan Huberdeau
Huberdeau has had a bounce back season from his first two years in Calgary and leads the team in scoring. In his last five games, he has two goals, one assist, and three points. His contract is still pretty steep since having a career year a couple of years ago, but he's rebounded nicely this season.
The Blues will have to look out for Huberdeau, who is pretty good in front of the net.
