The St. Louis Blues will look to get their first win of the season tonight in Minnesota. So far, the Wild have won both games against the Blues. In both contests, the Blues have lost by a margin of at least two goals. Here are three players to keep your eye on in tonight's contest.
1. Filip Gustavsson
The Wild's starting goalie has had the Blues number this season. He's only allowing 1.50 goals a game against St. Louis and has a .942 save percentage in both matchups. The Blues are going to have to get their offense going tonight if they want to win.
2. Jordan Kyrou
I think this is a game to watch out for Kyrou. It's a big game against a division rival for the Blues, and it's one I'd like to see Kyrou take over. He's easily been their best scoring forward this season, and it would be nice to see a statement game from Kyrou.
The type of statement game that says, "There's a reason I'm one of the highest-paid forwards on the team, because I can rise to the occasion in the toughest games." I think Kyrou can do it; he's clearly progressed leaps and bounds from last season.
3. Brayden Schenn
I really like how Schenn has been playing lately. He's riding a four-game point streak, and in those four games he's also scored three goals. The captain is getting hot at the right time, considering how many big games the Blues are set to play this month.
I would look for Schenn to have a good night against Minnesota. He leads all Blues players with 28 points in 38 career games against the Wild.
An important side note:
The Minnesota Wild will be without Kirill Kaprizov tonight. He was placed on injured reserve on January 1st with a lower body injury. Minnesota will be without their best forward tonight. This is something the Blues must take advantage of.
