The roller coaster continues. The St. Louis Blues were unable to pick up a win against their Central Division rival, the Dallas Stars, 2-0.

If you watched this game for the first 10 minutes, you saw every goal for the game and got the whole idea of what that game was. Dallas got on the board early and often, and as hard as the Blues tried to catch up, they couldn’t.

Let’s go over the three takeaways from this one.

Lost the game in the first 10 minutes

This one was over a little bit after it started. Jordan Binnington allowed two goals, one from Evgenii Dadonov and one from Elsa Lindell, on the Stars first eight shots.

Not a great start.

Shutout for the first time all season

For the first time this season, the Blues were shut out. This is an incredible stat as the Blues are currently 18th in the NHL in goals scored.

It took 50 games for it to happen. This is a big step up from last season in which they were shut out in their seventh game.

Strong effort in second/third periods

Despite going down early, the Blues fought hard in the second and third periods to try and come back. But, Stars goaltender Casey DeSmith shut the door on all 33 shots the Blues threw at him.

The Blues outshot the Stars 21-10 in the final 40 minutes of this game.

The insertion of Zac Bolduc into the top-six was a spectacular failure, as he did keep up with the top talent. He registered three shots on goal in 15:59 of ice time.

At the end of the day, close and almost are only good in horseshoes. They lost the game very early on, and couldn’t climb their way back.
