The St. Louis Blues are looking to get back on track against a foe that they knocked out of playoff contention last season. In a Saturday afternoon showdown between Western Conference rivals, the Calgary Flames and Blues look to do battle.

The Flames have a 1-1 record on the year, winning their season opener against the Edmonton Oilers. The Blues were knocked around in their home opener, losing 5-0 to the Minnesota Wild.

There are three ways that the Blues can get themselves in the win column for the first time this season. Let's go over it.

Short Term Memory

It is important for the Blues to have short-term memory after their abysmal opening night loss. There is no way that they can let that linger longer than this game against Calgary.

The Flames have a great team, but they are certainly beatable. This is a great chance to get the key players on this team some momentum. It is onto game number two of 82.

Flames have a weak spot

The Blues had one area that they excelled in during their opening night loss, and that was the ability to get shots on goal. This is where the Flames have been weak in their first two games of the season.

On opening night, the Blues rattled off 26 shots on goal against Minnesota, which is some solid pressure despite not getting any past Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson. The Flames have been outshot 61-40 in their first two games, and that could be a point of emphasis in this game. Especially since it is likely going to be a pretty physical one.

Blues have to be physical in a physical game

There is no love lost between these two squads. Down the stretch last season, the Blues went on that magical 12-game win steak, and gained a lot of ground on Calgary. They eventually overpassed them, thus making it into the Stanley Cup playoffs with the final wildcard spot.

Before all of that happened, the Blues took it to the Flames, beating them on all three occasions last season. There was a goal differential of 10-5 in favor of the Blues.

This is going to be a physicla affiar, and the Blues have to be stronger and meaner. Head coach Jim Montgomery is calling for his guys to be tougher than the opposition, and that will have to be the mantra in this game if they want to win.
