The St. Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres have been involved in a number of different conversations involving a number of players. Most recently, Justin Faulk was a target of the Sabres, but now, trade talks are heating up about another key trade piece.

Robert Thomas is now under consideration, but it has not gained much traction...yet. We will see how much of it is true or not as the days go on, but it seems that Thomas has not yet waived his No-Trade Clause.

Bit of a surprise

The Sabres are a surprising team, as the only teams linked to Thomas prior to this morning were Detroit and Utah, and a minor glimpse from Los Angeles. Obviously, a 14-year playoff drought is the focus here from Buffalo, and Thomas could be a key reason that they finally break the mold.

To be clear, the reports are coming in that Thomas has not been asked to waive his No-Trade Clause, meaning that things are not progressing much further than rumor.

For the Blues, it seems the return could be right in General Manager Doug Armstrong's price range. Per Chris Johnston, via the Darren Dreger report on Thomas and the Sabres connection, the Blues could be getting back multiple first-rounders.

With only one more game on Wednesday against Seattle between now and the Trade Deadline on Friday, this trade could happen quickly or not at all. We will see if it does come to fruition, as the ball is now in Thomas' court.
