The St. Louis Blues have not had the kind of year that they had hoped for so far in 2025-26. Underwhelming play, a flurry of injuries, and a carousel of line-changes and adjustments have labeled this season as an early failure.

But, upon looking over the NHL Standings, and particularly the wildcard picture, it is definitely not over yet for the Blues. Let's go over it.

Blues are still alive?

After 31 games, the Blues hold a record of 11-13-7 for 29 points and are in seventh place in the Central Division. They only lead the Nashville Predators by three points. But, this team has the worst goal differential in not only the Division or the Western Conference, but the entire NHL at -30.

You would think that all of that negativity would have the Blues down and out, even this early into the season. But that is not the case as this team is still very much alive, and there is a chance that they could be a playoff team with a win in their next game against the aforementioned Predators.

The Western Conference wild-card race holds two teams at the moment. The Edmonton Oilers and the Utah Mammoth are at 32 and 31 points, respectively. If the Blues win their next game against Nashville on Thursday night, and Utah loses tonight against Florida, the Blues will have a share of the playoff spot with Utah. But, Chicago and Winnipeg sit ahead of the Bles at 30 and 29 points as well.

This race is still very tight after 31 games of the season. And with all of the troubles that have surrounded this team, it is amazing that they are still in consideration. Do not count this team out yet, folks. There is still a long season ahead.
