The St. Louis Blues are hitting all of the right marks at the moment, with the playoffs just a few weeks away. They have won seven games in a row, with no sign of slowing down as they continue to steamroll opponents. Their latest victim, the Montreal Canadiens, did not stand a chance against the hard-hitting and tough Blues, losing 6-1.

Speaking of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, when does that exactly start again. Can the Blues continue this hot streak and carry the momentum to when it matters the most?

April 19

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin on April 19, after the regular season ends on April 17. The Blues final game of the season is on April 15 at home against the Utah Hockey Club. That could have some playoff implications attached to it, depending on how the next few weeks go for both teams.

That gives the Blues a healthy, but lengthy, four days off at a minimum. If they can keep this momentum going until then end of the year, is it going to hurt them to take an extended time off?

Can the Blues Make it?

At this time, after securing a 6-1 victory over Montreal on Tu night, they are now within earshot of not only a wildcard spot, but the first one. They now trail the Minnesota Wild by two points, 83 for the Blues and 85 for the Wild. These two teams do not face each other again this season.

This could be the difference between playing Winnipeg or Vegas in the first round of the playoffs. And, not too far in front of the Blues is Colorado in the third Central Division position at 91 points. It is not impossible, but still likely improbable, for the Blues to catch up.

The idea of the Blues making the Playoffs this season is an unexpected one. But, things are looking bright for this team.
