Hello St. Louis Blues fans! The Blues are up north to face the top team in the west and it is a homecoming of sorts for the Note’s head coach.
The St. Louis Blues take on the Minnesota Wild tonight. While it is definitely not the first time Mike Yeo has been back to the Twin Cities, it is his first venture back as the head man for the Blues.
The Blues have been in Minnesota twice this season and lost both. The team is 2-2 against the Wild this year, which, if you do the math, means St. Louis has won both their home games. Unfortunately, this game is not at home.
St. Louis is trying to get something positive going and build off a win over Colorado. Though the Blues won and did so comfortably, they did not exactly light the world on fire.
Despite scoring three goals, the Blues could have probably netted at least double that. The Blues also relied on Jake Allen far too much against a team that is statistically one of the worst in the entire league.
That kind of effort will not suffice against the conference’s best. Things would be tough against Minnesota even if the Blues were playing at their best, which they are not.
The Wild have scored the most goals in the entire conference and only two teams have more goals than them in the league. On the flip side, the Wild have given up the fewest goals in Western Conference and the second fewest in the NHL.

That’s not exactly a recipe for success for the Blues. St. Louis struggles to score and is extremely hit or miss when it comes to keeping the puck out of their own net.
Making matters worse is St. Louis’ struggles in St. Paul. This season, the Blues have lost by an average of 4-1 in Minnesota and won by a paper thin margin of 3-2.5 in the two wins in St. Louis.
But that’s why we play the games. If everything was done on paper, there would be no point in actually playing the game because you could just say what would happen. Chicago would win the championship because everyone thinks they will and there would be no fun in the world.
So, will the Blues win tonight? Unlikely. We will still watch and we will still hope and maybe our faith will be rewarded.
If nothing else, we better start hoping the Blues can win in Minnesota. It’s looking more and more likely that they would be St. Louis’ playoff opponent, if the Blues can even make the postseason.
