The St. Louis Blues look to learn more about their team with another preseason matchup against the Dallas Stars. The first matchup of these two resulted in a collapse of epic proportions for the Blues, and even though these games don't count, it cannot happen again.
After a flurry of roster cuts, there is a clearer picture of what this team might look like when opening night rolls around on October 9. Here are some of the players who will be in the lineup for Tuesday night's action.
Of that group, three players specifically should stand out amongst them all. Let's talk about them here.
Dalibor Dvorsky
After the latest round of roster cuts, only a few prospects remain as part of the official Blues roster. One of those standout stars is Dalibor Dvorsky, who is knocking on the door of making the opening night roster.
After a slow start to the preseason, in which he looked very lost and overwhelmed in the last game against Dallas, Dvorsky can redeem himself. Watch out for No. 54, as this might be his last chance to keep his name in General Manager Doug Armstrong's mind for the start of the 2025-26 regular season.
Joel Hofer
One of the most interesting storylines of the 2025-26 regular season is the goaltending. Jordan Binnington is already in mid-season form, stopping nearly everything thrown at him in his two appearances. Now, backup goaltender Joel Hofer gets another chance to warm up before the regular season begins.
It is pretty cut and dry that the Blues are going to go with Binnington and Hofer as the No.1 and No. 2 goalies this season. But Colten Ellis has made a strong case for himself as a third option, if need be. Hofer might have a bit of a shadow now, so let's see how he reacts.
Justin Faulk
Finally, making his preseason debut is one of the more intriguing players to watch for the 2025-26 season is defenseman Justin Faulk. After a so-so year in 2024-25, and the idea that this Blues blue line might be the best it has been in a long time, the pressure is on Faulk to pick it up.
The Blues recently re-signed Cam Fowler to a three-year extension. And, with the acquisition of Logan Mailloux, who the Blues really believe can be special, this can be a solid unit. Can Faulk be more consistent on the blue line?
