The St. Louis Blues are playing incredible hockey down the stretch, and their last opponent and next opponent are the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. The good thing is, they just defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2, and have their last meeting of the season on Tuesday.Â
This is the first of six games left in the regular season, and this franchise is knocking on the door to the playoffs. Imagine thinking that back in February, when they were preparing to sell at the Trade Deadline.Â
This is going to be a lot different than the last game, in which Robert Thomas got his first career hat-trick. The Avs are going to want to make sure they get the Presidents’ Trophy and secure the top seed for the Playoffs.Â
Let’s see who can be a difference maker in this one.Â
Robert ThomasÂ
What a surprise, Thomas should be a difference maker once again. He has had a very good season, despite being injured for a good chunk of it. Throw in the non-stop trade rumors, and this season should look a lot different from No. 18.Â
Instead, he continues to prove his importance to this Blues team. He is the face and future of this franchise, and another historic performance against the best team in hockey should prove that. To boot, he was named as the third star in the NHL this week for his efforts.
Jimmy Snuggerud
This also shouldn’t surprise you, as Jimmy Snuggerud is continuing to put on a show in his rookie season. A part of a diabolically good first line, he has taken great leaps this season in his development.Â
Before his sophomore season begins this October, he has already established himself as a cornerstone piece of the Blues’ future. Can he help this team into the playoffs with a solid performance against Colorado?
Dylan HollowayÂ
Completing one of the best first-line trios in all of hockey, Dylan Holloway is going to have to be perfect against the Avalanche. With three goals and six assists for nine points over his last five games, No. 81 has been a key player down this stretch.
The Avalanche have a lethal trio of their own up front, and in the last game, the Blues bunch were able to get the upperhand.
