The St. Louis Blues are steadily declining down this roller coaster that is called the 2025-26 season. In the battle at the bottom of the Central Division, it was a complete disaster and embarrassment for the Blue Note.

Here are the three big takeaways from the blowout loss.

Fabbri fit in nicely

After signing a one-year deal on Wednesday, Robby Fabbri made his re-debut with the Blues just 24 hours later. He had yet to play a single game at the NHL level this season and last played in February as a member of the Anaheim Ducks last season.

It was nice to see him back in the Blue Note, and it looked weird to see him in the No. 9 sweater. But he fit nicely into this current regime, making an immediate impact on the game. He was the primary assist on Hugh McGing's first NHL goal, which was the first goal of the pair for the Blues in this game.

As time goes on, and the injured players return, Fabbri could be an important piece in fixing this season.

First NHL goal alert

Speaking of a first NHL goal alert, McGing did his part in his 2025-26 debut. He had some nice words to say about it after the game, but the elephant in the room was that it would have been better with a better team effort.

Where does this team go from here?

That is the big question, isn't it? The Predators move just one point behind the Blues for the last spot in the Central Division, and the Blues are still only three points behind Utah for the second wildcard spot.

Talk about being stuck in the middle.

The two options are to try to weather this injury storm and get the goal-scorers back into action, and hope that your defense and goaltending finally figure themselves out. Or you start kicking the tires on who wants your core and start the rebuild. Either way, this loss paints a picture that this team has not gotten anything figured out yet, and, after 32 games, is still trying to identify itself.

Not good.
