The St. Louis Blues etched their name in the franchise history books by tying the longest win streak at 11 wins. It took an extra frame to get the victory, and now all eyes are on Saturday night and the chance to break the record against the Colorado Avalanche.
Before we get to that, let’s look at some of the big takeaways from Thursday night’s 5-4 victory.
Another overtime win
Someone in a Blues uniform had to play hero for the second time in a row. In the game against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday, it was defenseman Cam Fowler, and then against Pittsburgh, it was the best player on this roster, and nearly the league, center Robert Thomas.
This win streak has featured some incredible moments; these last two games are at the top of the list.
First wildcard spot
With their 11th straight win, the Blues now have sole possession of the first wildcard spot in the Western Conference, over the Minnesota Wild.
That changes everything, as the first wildcard spot has to face off against Vegas in the first round. Should the Blues advance, they would then take on the winner of the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings. It might be an easier route to take after having pretty good records against both of those Pacific Division teams.
Rookies first point
Jimmy Snuggerud suited up for his second career game; this time, he got himself on the scoresheet for his first career point.
On Jake Neighbours' third-period goal to put the Blues up 4-2, Snuggerud helped out with the first assist of his NHL career.

The future is bright for both him and Dalibor Dvorsky, who will likely be seeing some playing time with the injury to key player Dylan Holloway.
