The St. Louis Blues lost another game in overtime, 3-2. Sound familiar, because that just happened in the tilt up in Toronto on Wednesday, and now it's happened again against the Philadelphia Flyers.

This team cannot catch a break, but things might be trending in the right direction. A point is a point, right?

Here are three things to take away from this wild one against the Flyers.

Brayden Schenn's best game of the year

The only player who can really turn this season around is Brayden Schenn. As the Captain, that is your responsibility, to help curate a winning team and a successful culture in the locker room. You can do that by being a leader or standing out with your play.

Schenn decided to go ahead and have the best game of his 2025-26 campaign, against the team that he has spent the second-most amount of time with in his long-tenured career, Philadelphia. No. 10 finished the game without a point, but he amassed eight shots on goal, while also helping Pavel Buchnevich break out of his shell as well.

That line of Dalibor Dvorsky, Buchnevich, and Schenn was by far the best line of the night. Who would have thought that?

Justin Faulk is this teams best defenseman

On a really bad defensive unit, things are finally starting to look a little better. Colton Parayko and Cam Fowler had much better showings in this game on their respective lines, but the story of the night is the new top defenseman on the Blues, Justin Faulk.

Faulk and Fowler were the d-pairing on the night with an xGoals% of 56.6, as well as an On-Ice xGoals Differential of .33.

With two goals in the first period, Faulk had all of the offense for the Blues while maintaining a strong defensive effort. Can he keep this up and carry the load for the blueline?

Things are getting better

Speaking of the defense getting better, it looks like the Blues themselves are getting better. The offense got its missing link back, which happened to be their saving grace at this point, in Jake Neighbours. He had an assist on the second Faulk goal, in which he had a solid play along the wall to set it all up.

This road trip has been lucrative thus far, though not completely satisfying. Gaining two points helps, but four would have helped so much more. Two straight 2-1 collapses are not a fun experience, and it is starting to take a toll on these players.

Not only in the standings, but with the team's confidence. But this Blues team is starting to turn that corner.
