The St. Louis Blues had no business grabbing a point in the wild contest against the New Jersey Devils, but did so anyway.

In a 5-4 loss, the game went to overtime following a ferocious comeback in the third period by the Blues. There was a good chunk of winners from this game, and unfortunately, a lot of losers, too.

Let’s go over it.

Winners:

Mason McTavish

There is the Mason McTavish that we know and love. After going missing over the last week and a half, No. 83 quickly remembered how to play hockey against these really good Devils.

He picked up a goal and an assist, giving him seven goals and five assists for 12 points. McTavish desperately needed a game like this to get himself back in the swing of things.

Dalibor Dvorsky

There are two ways to look at Dalibor Dvorsky's game against the Devils. With his fourth goal of the season, which was the game-tying goal to send this game to overtime, he may have just saved his placement on the third line.

This season has seen very small glimpses of potential from No. 15, but it has also shown a lot of lackluster play. We will get to the other side of the argument for his game against the Devils below in the loser section.

Robert Thomas

Who would have thought that if you shot the puck more, good things would happen? Crazy thought.

Robert Thomas has been lacking in shooting pucks up until a few games ago, and now, it finally seems like he is back to his old dependable self. He helps a team lead with four shots on goal, with one of them being a big goal in the second period, on the power play.

Jake Neighbours

Against a gritty Devils squad, someone had to step up and lay the boom. Especially after this “beefed up” lineup was only registering the 25th most hits in the NHL this season.

Insert Jake Neighbours and this monstrous slam. He was able to get Devils star forward Timo Meier to grab a misconduct and sparked a bit of life into this Blues team.

Losers:

Jordan Binnington

This was a bad loss for goaltender Jordan Binnington. With 31 saves on 36 shots, this is the third time of his five starts this season to allow more than five goals in a single outing.

There is a lot that can be said about this being another bad night from the defense, but in a game where this team needed him to be great, he could not do so. Clock is ticking, and the Blues front office is running out of time and suitors for Binnington.

Dalibor Dvorsky

This is where we get to the other side of the coin, as Dvosrky might have just played himself out of St. Louis. With that goal, and Detroit Red Wings assistant General Manager Chris Draper in attendance again, the rumors are lining up for Simon Edvinsson.
