With the upcoming World Junior Hockey tournament coming up next week, teams are starting to reveal their sub-final and final rosters from one of the biggest hockey events of the year. As Team Canada announced their roster, there were no Blues prospects or young guns on the team, making their first-round selection from this past NHL Draft a snub.

Let's talk about it.

Justin Carbonneau was snubbed

Justin Carbonneau has spent the entire 2025-26 QMJHL season as a dominating force. With the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, he has 23 games played, with 23 goals on the year. He is a goal-per-game player in a CHL-affiliated league and is only second in most goals behind Félix Lacerte of Shawinigan, Cataractes. Carbonneau also has nine helpers, giving him a total of 32 points on the year.

Aside from those blistering stats, the eye-test should also play a factor in this decision. Carbonneau took his training camp and preseason with the Blues and went back to Junior Hockey as a completely different animal. He is faster than his opposition and has really stepped up his raw scoring potential with creativity and a much more lethal wrist shot.

Team Canada is one of the best Junior Hockey teams in the world tournament, and each player is a future NHL star in the making. This is just the beginning of their long and storied careers ahead of them. It is fair to say that Carbonneau has proven enough this season to be amongst them.
