With two games left to play for the 2025-26 season, the St. Louis Blues made a number of changes with their future pieces. Otto Stenberg and Theo Lindstein have been assigned to Springfield, and it is unclear if they will be back up for the final game against the Utah Mammoth on Thursday.

Both players split time at the AHL and NHL level this season, as both were call-ups. As the Blues are out of playoff contention, there are some other members of this Blues team that need to get playing time, and that was blocked by both of these players.

Lindstein was adequate on the defensive side, with two goals and two assists for four points in 17 games. Stenberg showed a little more upside than Lindstein, as he comfortably slotted into the Blues forward group. In 32 games, he had three goals and tallied seven assists for 10 points.

The two players are right at the start of their long careers. Lindstein, 21, and Stenberg, 20, have a lot to learn about being an everyday NHLer, but have showed enough in the sample size for this season.

This move will help Springfield in their efforts of making into the Calder Cup playoffs, as they are on the brink of getting in. New head coach Steve Ott has turned that team around at an impressive pace, and both NHLers will certainly turn the tide.

With two games left to go, and one being tonight in the home finale against Pittsburgh, it will be interesting if anyone else gets sent down before the season ends. In all likelyhood, this will be the final internal move of the season.
