We all knew that Pat Maroon wasn't going to stay away from the game for long.

The 2019 Stanley Cup champion with the St. Louis Blues announced his retirement earlier this year and hinted at wanting to stay around the game earlier this summer.

"Right now just diving deep in some things that maybe I want to do, venture off into media world, maybe do some side things," Maroon said back in June. "I'm looking forward to retirement and spending time with my family."

Well, it's not in media -- although he did serve as a guest panelist for TNT in the playoffs --, but Maroon has landed his next gig in his hockey career.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks announced on Friday afternoon that Maroon will be joining the coaching staff for the upcoming season.

"We are excited to add Pat to our coaching staff. As a program, we are always self-evaluating on how we get better. When this opportunity was presented to us, it was hard to turn down." said Lumberjacks President Steve Lowe. "Adding someone like Pat, who has three Stanley Cup rings, is something that doesn't come along very often. Pat will be a great mentor for our players, coaching staff, and everyone at the Muskegon Lumberjacks."

The Muskegon Lumberjacks play in the USHL as one of the top junior leagues in the United States. They also have a pretty sick logo, if I say so myself, if you're looking for some new gear to support the Big Rig.

Best of luck behind the bench, Pat!
