The St. Louis Blues were able to gain a much-need win against the New York Islanders, 2-1. It was a hard fought victory, and things might finally start to be looking up.

Let's go over some recent news surrounding the Blues, as well as a round-up of the NHL.

Blues News

  • One of the (big takeaways from this game) was the stellar play from the line of Pavel Buchnevich, Brayden Schenn, and Dalibor Dvorsky. The trio was electric in the loss to Philadelphia and picked it right back up on Long Island.
  • Prior to the game against the Islanders, the Blues re-called Logan Mailloux from Springfield after sending Hunter Skinner back down to the AHL level. You should expect to see the young defenseman back in the lineup soon.
  • The Alexandre Texier situation has reached its peak, as the Blues also announced that he would be subject to contract termination. Even though this is a pretty complicated issue, it gives Texier a chance to earn his spot in another organization when there just is not any room for him in this one.

NHL News

  • The Colorado Avalanche have a good chance of never losing again. Obviously, they will lose again, but this team is firing on all cylinders, starting the season at 15-1-5 for 35 points, including their most recent 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators.
