The St. Louis Blues' season is over at the NHL level, but there are plenty of players across the organization still playing hockey. Of course, the Blues have a handful of players at the World Championships, including Jordan Binnington, who has posted not one but two shutouts. But they also have a prospect moving on to the Memorial Cup.
Blues prospect Juraj Pekarcik won the QMJHL Championship with his Moncton Wildcats team on Monday night.
Pekarcik had 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists) and was a +1 in 19 playoff games. That includes seven points in the six-game championship series against Rimouski Oceanic. His 21 points were the third most on the team, led by top draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers.
The run for the Moncton Wildcats and Pekarcik isn't over, though, as they now head to the Memorial Cup along with the OHL and WHL champions, and the host team.
Ironically enough, Rimouski Oceanic is hosting this year's Memorial Cup so they would've made the field win or lose in the championship. The other teams are the London Knights from the OHL and the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL.
The Blues selected Pekarcik in the third round (76th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft. He had 59 points in 43 games last year in the USHL and made quite the impression in his rookie season in the QMJHL with 67 points (24 goals, 43 assists) in 53 games. He also had seven points in five games for Slovakia at the World Junior Championship.
