The St. Louis Blues have quite the offseason in front of them and, while the draft next week is at the forefront of everybody's minds, there are a few other orders of business to take care of. After a trade deadline that saw the Blues add quite a bit of draft capital, a few names are still circling in trade rumors.
Things have cooled off a bit since we last looked at The Athletic's big trade board, but we've got a new one out today that's worth breaking down. Jordan Kyrou is, understandably, the first Blue listed, but he's down to number seven now--a slight drop from previous iterations. It truly wouldn't be a Blues offseason without Kyrou's name floating around in trade rumors, and that doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon.
Close behind Kyrou, at number eight, is defenseman Colton Parayko. There was a trade in place at the deadline that would've sent Parayko to the Buffalo Sabres, but he invoked his trade protection to block the deal. That doesn't mean he isn't open to a new destination, though, and teams will look to add his steady, veteran presence.
Down at number 12 is Jordan Binnington. With one year remaining on his contract and championship pedigree, a contending team would love to add Binnington to their roster--even with his underwhelming play behind the Blues last season. Joel Hofer's ready to be the starter, but having Binnington in the wings would provide the Blues a layer of security if Hofer regresses or is injured; it'd likely take a solid haul to pry Binnington out of St. Louis.
The last Blue on the list, down at 22, is Robert Thomas. The Blues have more or less acknowledged that Thomas isn't going anywhere, despite having the framework of a deal in place at the deadline, but that won't stop teams from checking in. It'd be a steep price to pay for Thomas to start next year on a new team.
The Stanley Cup has been awarded to the Carolina Hurricanes, and a few trades have already taken place. The stage is set for the Blues to make some sort of move, if it makes sense to do so.
