Free agency this summer's looking pretty bleak, as many big names have already extended with their teams--so that means most teams are going to have to turn to trades to try to improve. The Athletic's big trade board's newest update has four members of the St. Louis Blues on it, and one in the top five, to some surprise.
At number four on the board, we've got Jordan Kyrou. Trade rumors have followed Kyrou for years now, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see him moved--but four seems awfully high. Kyrou's 28 years old and, last season aside, pretty consistently scored 30 goals per season. His $8.125-million a year contract is a bargain as the cap continues to rise, and he has a no-move clause. Kyrou's likely at his lowest value and the Blues would come out losers in just about any transaction. The rumor mill turns ever onward, though, so Kyrou stays on the trade board.
Next up, at number nine, is Jordan Binnington. It's become clear that the starter's net belongs to Joel Hofer, and the Blues will have to make a decision on Binnington sooner than later. Will Binnington be content to play second fiddle on the last year of his contract in St. Louis? Or will he want to prove he's still a starting-caliber netminder? Teams in need of an improvement in the crease will be calling all summer.
Back to back, at 17 and 18, are Robert Thomas and Colton Parayko. It seems unlikely that Thomas will be moving anywhere soon, and the asking price may be so astronomical that no team will bite. Parayko, on the other hand, could still find a new home by the start of the season; while he did put a stop to a trade to Buffalo at the trade deadline, that doesn't mean he isn't open to a move elsewhere. His age and remaining term could prove tricky for contending teams to navigate, though, so it still feels likely he'll be with the Blues to start the 2026-27 season.
