The St. Louis Blues may not be playing anymore, at least until after this summer is over. But the Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing as the Conference Championships are here.
The Montreal Canadiens, they have the undefeated Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals. On their squad, they have two Blues that have been a big help for them, and are sorely missed in the 'Lou.
Let's talk about it.
Zack Bolduc
One of the biggest and most debated moves prior to the 2025-26 season was the trade with Montreal, sending Zack Bolduc over for Logan Mailloux. Boy, did the Habs win that one so far.
Bolduc had a phenomenal regular season, with 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points. But his shining moment right now is this playoff run for the Canadiens, in which he has three goals and four assists, which included a goal in the gigantic Game Seven against Buffalo earlier this week.
The Canadiens are going to have a tough time against Carolina, despite their 4-2 lead at the time of writing. Bolduc is going to have to continue to be a huge part of their offense.
Alexandre Texier
Speaking of this 4-2 lead, Alexandre Texier has put a huge footprint on Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. With a huge goal in the first period, he continues to prove that the Blues were completely wrong in terminating him earlier this season.
Texier was signed by Montreal and proved a worthy investment with eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 51 games. Like Bolduc, he now has three goals and four assists in these playoffs, and has been all over the ice with blazing speed and purpose.
Both of these former Blues are aiding their new teams to wins in the playoffs; meanwhile, the Blues couldn't even get into the dance. Usually, one ex-player performing well in the playoffs hurts, but two ex-players shining brightly on the same team in two separate transactions absolutely stings.
