This is a funny tidbit on the seriousness and emotional aspect of the Trade Deadline. The St. Louis Blues are in San Jose to face the Sharks tonight. And, the New York Islanders are there as well as they face the Sharks tomorrow night.

That means the trade of Brayden Schenn to the Islanders is probably the fastest a player has ever reported to their new team, ever. I wonder if he even had to change hotel rooms.

In the final hours of the Trade Deadline, Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong was able to trade away his captain for a first-round pick, a third-round pick, and a prospect. This is a fantastic trade for both sides, as the Blues get their future looking a little brighter, and the Islanders can begin to make their playoff push.

Out of the Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko, and Jordan Kyrou offers, it is a surprise that Schenn's was the one to break first. Schenn had to waive his No-Trade Clause, which was a given considering he was unsure of wanting to stay on through the impending rebuild.

The next couple of hours are going to be an adjustment for Blues fans, and tonight's game is going to be bittersweet. Not to mention, the Blues next home game on Tuesday is against Schenn and his new squad. There won't be a dry eye in the building for that one.

It is now onto a new era for Schenn, and for the Blues organization. Who is next to step up?
