The St. Louis Blues and New York Islanders are moving toward a deal involving the captain of the Blues. Brayden Schenn, whose brother, Luke, was just moved from Winnipeg to Buffalo, is heading to the Empire State.
The deal, which is for a first-round pick and a third-round pick, plus a prospect, will change the landscape of the Blues' future. There will be a new captain going forward. Now, the Schenn brothers are in the same state, but vastly far away from each other.
The return for Schenn is a first-round pick, a third-round pick and a prospect for Schenn, according to @DarrenDreger. #stlblues

Schenn, who was awarded the captaincy in 2023 and was the 24th captain in franchise history, now moves on to his fourth team in the NHL. The 34-year-old center has appeared in 61 games this season, scoring 12 goals and adding 16 assists for 28 points. His last game as a Blue, which gave him a serious boost in trade leverage, was a three-assist night against Seattle.
This now officially marks a new generation of Blues hockey, as their captain and sole leader is off to another team. With under an hour left in the Trade Deadline, the Blues can certainly make a lot more moves like this one to improve their odds in the future.
This return is increible for Schenn, and it certainly makes up for the missed opportunity with Colton Parayko not going to Buffalo.
Best of luck, Schenn on your future on Long Island. You were a true Blue and will be missed from this franchise.
