The St. Louis Blues had a pretty successful 2024-25 season, all things considered. Sure, the ending wasn't one to remember, but they had a great run to get there.
A lot of that was thanks to how the team was put together and the moves made throughout the season.
Blues general manager Doug Armstrong made savvy moves in the offseason to but St. Louis in good position, and continued to do so once the season was underway.
It started with firing head coach Drew Bannister after a 9-12-1 to replace him with Jim Montgomery. He then made a great addition in the form of Cam Fowler in mid-December when the team really needed it. He decided to stand pat at the trade deadline, which some fans may not have liked, but it resulted in an exciting first-round series against the Winnipeg Jets and some real hope for the future.
The NHL announced the winner of the General Manager of the Year Award on Friday night, and while Dallas Stars' Jim Nill won for the third consecutive season, the Blues GM received a few votes as well.
Armstrong received a second- and third-place vote to give him four points in the voting.

It's nice to see Armstrong get some recognition from around the league. He's already made some pretty bold statements this offseason, so we'll see if he can get a few more votes for GM of the Year next time around.
