Is this the deepest young core St. Louis has ever built?

The St. Louis Blues have a brand new identity quickly, as the emphasis is on the youth. It may be filled with growing pains and frustration, but these next two to three seasons are going to be filled with a lot of excitement. 

This may be the deepest prospect pool that the Blues have ever had. With a plethora of first-round selections, as well as a bunch of opportunities for those up-and-coming players, this franchise is going to look a lot different going forward. 

Who are the key figures in this future group, and where do they fit in? Let’s talk about it. 

Blossoming stars

We all saw how Jimmy Snuggerud and Dalibor Dvorsky emerged onto the scene for the Blues in 2025-26, but what about the upcomers next season? There are quite a few that will be guaranteed to get the call-up next season, with one possibly cracking the opening-night roster.

Justin Carbonneau and Adam Jiricek are both of those prospects, with the latter likely getting a shot on opening night. Training camp will really tell the story of whether they make it, but a few months in Springfield is not a bad idea either.

Returning for their second stint in the NHL will be Theo Lindstein and Otto Stenberg, who both played relatively well in their first go-around. Each has a stake in next season's roster, but with an influx of talent on both the offensive and defensive levels, their spot is not guaranteed.

Solid chance of making it with some help

Moving down the prospect list, there are a couple of names that could see action with the Blues next season, but some help will be needed to get there. Dmitri Buchelnikov, who came to the Blues in the deal for Justin Faulk, has been steadily improving in the KHL. Should the Blues need a winger due to injury, he is a valid choice.

If Jordan Binnington were to be moved next season at any point, another goaltender would have to be called up to back up Joel Hofer. Enter Georgii Romanov, who was stellar for Springfield last season and is next up to get a chance. Even though he is slated to begin his WHL career, 2026 fourth-round pick Vladimir Proskurin has all the makings of being the next franchise goaltender for the Blues.
