Former St. Louis Blues star Vladimir Tarasenko seeking Second Stanley Cup
Vladimir Tarasenko, the fifth leading scorer in St. Louis Blues history, is seeking his second Cup, battling the Boston Bruins in the second-round of the playoffs as a member of the Florida Panthers.
As of now, Tarasenko and the Panthers are leading their second-round series against the Bruins, 2-1.
On Friday, the Panthers defeated the Bruins in Boston with a score of 6 to 2.
Will Tarasenko make a difference in the series?
Playing in eight total games in the playoffs so far, Tarasenko has recorded two goals and two assists.
There is no doubt about Florida's strategic acquisition of Tarasenko. Tarasenko's journey in the current season began with the Ottawa Senators, a team going through a tough time. The Panthers were actively looking to bolster their team's depth and add experienced leaders to make a strong push for a top playoff spot.
While Tarasenko's numbers have been limited, it is important to recognize the talent of the Panthers roster and to acknowledge the injury issues he has faced over the past several years.
However, in game three of the series, Tarasenko earned one point and successfully scored a goal.
In Florida, Tarasenko's ice time has significantly decreased, averaging 13 minutes and 50 seconds, which indicates that his role is primarily focused on the secondary unit.
We have yet to witness the full extent of Tarasenko's impact on the Panthers' championship aspirations. However, if he can play a limited role and maintain a production level similar to that of his time in St. Louis, it is fair to say that the Panthers have made a fantastic addition to their team.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 12th, as TBS will broadcast the fourth game of the series, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.
