David Perron is one of the most recognizable St. Louis Blues players of the last 15 years. He was with the Blues three different times and was a part of the 2019 Cup winning team. Many fans thought Perron should've been resigned in his last year in St. Louis, and for good reason.
In his last season with St. Louis, Perron put up a career high in goals with 27 and was close to a career high in points as well. Perron is an unrestricted free agent with Detroit this summer, and some Blues fans have speculated what it would look like to bring Perron back for a fourth stint. While it's a nice idea, it wouldn't work for a few reasons.
Perron back to St Louis for a fourth stint wouldn't work
When the Blues decided not to bring back Perron the last time, it was based on Doug Armstrong's idea that he was hesitant to give Perron the money he wanted mostly because of his age. This decision was controversial with Blues fans, because many felt like David Perron was destined to be a lifetime Blue after his performance in his latest stint with the team.
Whether this was the right decision or not, Perron made it clear he wanted to be back in St. Louis, but the feeling was not mutual. Since he signed with Detroit, Perron has made it known that he likes it there.
Considering how things ended with the Blues, and with Perron voicing his desire to Detroit, makes coming back to St Louis very unlikely.
Perron's consistent play and helping the franchise get it's first Stanley Cup will always be remembered by Blues fans. However his career ends, or wherever he ends up, he'll always be considered a fan favorite in St. Louis and deserves a standing ovation every time he comes back.
