It is now the start of the Trade Deadline day, and there ise only a few more hours left until this madness is all over. We have already seen the NHL change entirely with buyers bulking their rosters up for deep playoff runs, and sellers prepare for when it is there turn in the future.
The St. Louis Blues, although heavily featured amongst the biggest Hockey broadcasts in the world, have yet to make any kind of a deal. A whole lot of smoke but no fire as of yet.
Here is what is going on with some negotiations from the 24-hour mark, and if there have been any changes since then. Today is going to be one of two things: either spectacular and busy, or quiet and disappointing.
Parayko can still be dealt
After a deal was set in stone for Colton Parayko to go to Buffalo, No. 55 decided not waive his No-Trade Clause. This means that the deal is now dead in the water, and both sides have moved on.
This does not mean that Parayko will remain a Blue, as Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong can still try to find him a possible suitor. This is going to be the biggest story of this season's trade deadline, league-wide.
Nothing new on Thomas
There is nothing new developing on Robert Thomas, despite reports coming in that a deal could happen overnight. For this case, Utah and Detroit still look like front-runners, even with Detroit going out and grabbing former Blue David Perron from Ottawa.
A deal is still very likely for Thomas; it just depends on how much Armstrong is now willing to bend to get rid of him. There is also the likelihood of him remaining a Blue through this next rebuilding phase.
Also nothing new on Faulk, but it has gotten harder
After the Parayko deal fell through, the Buffalo Sabres went out and got a Schenn. Well, Luke Schenn from Winnipeg, to help with their defensive woes. And with that, the prospect of it being Justin Faulk going to Upstate New York has now been thrown out the window.
Detroit is still a perfect fit for No. 72, as they are trying to fend off the Sabres in a heated battle in the Atlantic Division. Can this deal happen before 3 PM EST today?
