The ice has been laid, the boards are up, and the 2026-27 NHL season is right around the corner. There has been a nice buzz around the social media world as teams have started hosting some informal practices with rookies, prospects and some veterans as well.
Training camp is nearly here, and then the preseason, which alludes to an unforgettable 84-game season up ahead. St. Louis Blues hockey is so close.
Today did not feature the first real round of practices, as it was yesterday was the initial start. But over the past two days, there have been a bunch of interesting quotes and videos highlighting what is going on with this team.

The vibes are back as the 2026-27 edition of the Blues have taken to the ice. It is a new era within this organization, and that means that whatever has happened in the past is now behind them. This team is going to go from lighthearted to ferocious quickly, as roster battles in training camp will be the main priority.
Newcomers have also arrived, with Dillon Dube and Brandon Carlo amongst them. Each had some time to talk to the media following their practice yesterday, and the inclusivity has already been felt. Cam Fowler, who is a big question mark for the 2026-27 season following his abysmal showing last season, also had some time as well.

After today's practice, Mason McTavish also spoke to reporters for the first time since joining this organization this summer. The former Anaheim Duck is coming to the Blues with a vengeance and is sour after being moved from the team that drafted him with the third-overall pick in 2021.
That is a great thing to see for the likely second-line center for the regular season, as McTavish is going to be a pivotal part of this young core. The Blues need him to use this aggression to their advantage, as the underlying focus this summer was to get this team bigger, badder, and stronger.
The Blues have a few more days before their first real showcase of talent, with the rookies and prospects traveling to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks' future stars. There are a number of players to watch out for, but Justin Carbonneau is really the standout here.
All eyes are on the first preseason game on September 19 against Dallas.
