The St. Louis Blues have a blossoming young star in Jimmy Snuggerud, and they have to be thanking their lucky stars that he has developed as quickly as he has. Seemingly overnight, he went from a Hobey Baker award finalist to the future of this franchise.
His rookie season gained him a spot on the All-Rookie team, alongside some of the game's brightest stars. Snuggerud was this team's ace, and his impact resonated all season long.
Looking at the Blues history books, Snuggerud did something in 2025-26 that was truly remarkable. He placed among some of the greatest players in this franchise's history, further validating how imporatant he is.
Let's take a look.
Success from the start
Here we go. No. 21 placed fifth in the Calder Trophy vote, which is the ninth time that a Blue has finished in the top-five. His 51 points was good enough for the seventh-most by a rookie in Blues history. Finally, with 21 goals, Snuggerud earned the eigth spot.
Looking at the other seven names ahead of him that scored more for the Blues in the first season, there are some incredible names there. Rod Brind'amour, who just led the Carolina Hurricanes to their second Stanley Cup in franchise history, Doug Gilmore, Jim Campbell, and Jorgen Pettersson.
What a list to be a part of.
Something to build off of
The most important thing to rememebr here is that this initial season was just the start of the greatness. A foundation has been laid that shows how great Snuggerud can be for the Blues.
With another full offseason going under his belt, and a new direction that is tailored toward the youth movement, there is no reason why Snuggerud cannot flourish again in 2026-27. The sky is the limit for this kid, and expect his name to appear more often inside the franchise record books when his career is all said and done.
