The St. Louis Blues had a bit of a rocky week, as it thankfully ended on a high note. Currently sitting at 2-2-1 through five games, this season continues to roll along.

So do the injuries, as the injured reserve continues to grow with each passing game. And not only for the Blues, but the NHL itself has a bit of an injury problem to start the 2026-27 season.

Let’s go over some recent news and rumblings, both Blues-wise and across the NHL.

Binnington trade rumors peak

Prior to getting the win against Columbus, goaltender Jordan Binnington was on thin ice. Letting up two early goals in that game nearly sank the ship, and the narrative of his departure from this franchise was nearly written in stone.

Not to mention that there was a big injury for the New York Rangers this week as Igor Shesterkin went to the LTIR. Do they take the chance on Binnington in a scarce goalie market?

Dube joins IR, Peterson called up

After scoring his first goal as a member of the Blues, Dillon Dube was sent to the press box with an injured neck. He took a nasty shot in the corner against San Jose, prior to scoring that first goal.

He will be looked at again in 8 weeks, and now it is Dylan Peterson’s turn. Can he also make an impact as the next man up?

Three stars of the week

The Blues had a solid week this week, all in all, but it wasn’t perfect. Looking at the three stars, there were some late surges due to the comeback win against Columbus that catapulted a few players.

As this season starts to enter its stage fo settling in, hopefully some new names enter the list next week.

First line has come to life

The first line has been under constant pressure this season, largely in part to their weak showing. Robert Thomas, Dylan Holloway, and Jimmy Snuggerud have been relatively quiet through five games.

But, as alluded to earlier, the emergence of this line came against Columbus, as Holloway had three assists and Snuggerud sniped two pucks.

Fans can take a bit of a breather, but it is only really gonna last until the next contest, which is against Ottawa.

Injury bug is rampant across NHL

Igor Shesterkin is out for the rest of the season for the Rangers. Cutter Gauthier of Anaheim is now out with an upper-body injury. One of the scariest injury reports of all time was reported by Seattle, as Jacob Melanson is now sidelined after suffering an anterior mediastinum hematoma with a vascular pseudo-aneurysm.
