The St. Louis Blues were able to blank the Winnipeg Jets, 1-0, in a hard-fought game. There was a lot of build-up to this one, and it might have changed the trajectory of this season.
Let's go over some of the fallout from this win, and venture down to Miami where some ice is being laid down for the great outdoor game.
Blues news
- The Blues were able to have short-term memory after losing to the Nashville Predators twice in three games. They also used that same technique to block out the fact that this Jets team sent them home in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. This 1-0 win had a lot to take away from it.
- General Manager Doug Armstrong had some everlasting comments this week about the disappointment so far this season. His words must have struck a nerve as the Blues came out as a much different team against the Jets. Can they keep it going with their home-stand finale against the New York Rangers?
- Both Jonatan Berrgren and Otto Stenberg made their Blues debuts, with the latter making his NHL debut. There was an awesome, bucket-less, rookie lap and a performance that head coach Jim Montgomery called a success.
Monty cont'd: "He made some really good reads on our penalty-kill and in our D-zone coverage, too. I thought it was a really good start to his career." (3/3) #stlblues

NHL news
- The ice is about to be laid down for the 2026 Winter Classic between the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers on January 2. It will take place down in Miami, at LoanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins. This will be the first of two outdoor games to be played in the Sunshine State, with the Boston Bruins visiting Raymond James Stadium in Tampa to face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in February.
Some cool details here from @cotsonika - the #NHL brought two mobile ice refrigeration trucks to Miami for the 2026 Winter Classic instead of the usual one. They're trying to pull off the warmest Winter Classic ever with the roof open @loanDepotpark. https://t.co/3m0rHBhOd7
