The Olympics have hit a bit of a break, at least for the men’s hockey side of things. The preliminary round is over, and to no surprise, Team Canada is leading the charge as the first seed.

There have been surprises and twists with each game of this best-on-best tournament, and it seems like the Blues players have had a part in it. Each player has kept to their word prior to the opening game and left a noticeable mark.

Here are a few highlights from the past few days, as well as a preview of the quarterfinals.

Despite losing one of their star players in Kevin Fiala, from Los Angeles, Pius Suter from the Blues has stepped up. He has two goals through the first three elimination games, including a go-ahead tally in the third period of their game against Czechia.

Each Blues player continues to keep their word, and their impact gets stronger with each game. This upcoming quarterfinal round is going to be very interesting, as more than half of the players will be sitting out of the next round of games, while the rest continue to keep their Olympic dream alive.

Next round of games and schedules

Jordan Binnington, Colton Parayko, and Dalibor Dvorsky will be awaiting the decisions of the four sudden-death games. Sweden's Philip Broberg and Switzerland's Suter will be fighting to keep their team in the competition.

Suter and the Swiss National Team should have an easier route, as Italy was just shell-shocked by Finland, 11-0. For Broberg, Sweden has not been firing on all cylinders in this tournament, and Latvia could pull off an incredible upset.

Canada is still the team to beat, but watch out for Dvorsky and the Slovakian team. His emergence in these games is going to do wonders for his development when he comes back to the Blues.
