The St. Louis Blues look to flip the script on their 2025-26 season, after defeating the Edmonton Oilers on Monday, 3-2. Now, with a visit to the Nation's Capital, against Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, this team can erase the past month of play and get a nice fresh start.
Here are three players to watch for.
Robert Thomas
It should be no coincedence tha when Robert Thomas returns from a lengthy upper-body injury that the Blues snap a seven-game losing streak. The Blue Note faithful should be ecstatic that No. 18 is back in action.
The Capitals have a solid first-line center themselves in Dylan Strome. This should be a very interesting matchup, as Strome has been a point-per-game player this year with 11 points in 10 games. Can we see a repeat performance from Thomas, hopefully sparking another win?
Dalibor Dvorsky
After notching his first career goal against Edmonton, Dalibor Dvorsky has officially established himself as an NHLer. It is evident that he is on a five-week tryout, and that the Blues are going to have a tough decision to make when Jake Neighbours comes back from injury.
For now, every single game is another opportunity for Dvorsky to make his mark on the league. Head coach Jim Montgomery, General Manager Doug Armstrong and the future General Manager, Alexander Steen, are paying very close attention to the 20-year-old.
Jordan Binnington
One of the key players from the Edmonton victory was the return of Jordan Binnington. He was not injured or out for a period of time, but his play has been off for a good portion of the season so far. That also goes to say with backup Joel Hofer, but it seems that in the past two games, both goaltenders are settling back in.
Binnington is going to be a crucial part of the rest of this season. The Blues can only go as far as their goaltender can stop the other team. Thankfully, the offense has been relatively there for the Blues this season, as their goals-for per game of 2.85 is 20th in the NHL. That is a respectable number given their goaltending stats this season.
