The St. Louis Blues got a bit of a later start than the rest of the NHL, but also had to endure a back-to-back to start the season. Splitting it up with a 1-1-0 record for 2 points to start the season against Central Division opponents, this team has just about seen it all already.
Through two games, let’s give out some awards for the three stars of the week.
Third star: Dalibor Dvorsky
It has been a nice start to the year for Dalibor Dvorsky, as this is a pretty important set of games. Personally, there are a few up-and-coming centers who are itching to play, and this season will dictate where he stands in Steen’s vision.
Fresh No. 15 has two goals in the two-game road trip, and each had a similar flair to it. Against Dallas, he was at the right place at the right time, which is what he needs to mirror his deal off of. In the 6-1 beatdown to the Colorado Avalanche, he was able to grab the loose puck and chuck a backhand at the net, in which it luckily went in.

Second star: Jimmy Snuggerud
It was a tale of two games for Jimmy Snuggerud as he soared on opening night but fell off in game two. He has a goal and an assist in the first two games of the year, which were secured in the game against Dallas.
Snuggerud has looked more comfortable on the ice this season, and alongside Robert Thomas and Dylan Holloway, that first line will be cooking with gas soon. No. 21 will be a catalyst on that line, and his goal-scoring ability will shine above.
First star: Joel Hofer
Joel Hofer is undeniably this team's most valuable player, and that is for two reasons. First, he delivered a fantastic statement shutout against a very good offense in Dallas. Second, the Blues are going to desperately need him following the Binnington blunder in Colorado. The idea of No. 30 getting over 50+ starts this season does not sound too bad after the first showing.
Hofer was calm, cool, and collected for much of the first game on the road trip, and that should translate to one more solid away start against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 6. The Blues are going to need him to be the first star of the week a lot this season.
Side note, Hofer is also on the scoresheet for an assist this season.
