With the second selection of the fourth round by the St. Louis Blues, General Manager Doug Armstrong decided to switch things up a bit and draft a goalie. Not just any goalie, but a Russian prospect from the MHL who had a .921 save percentage in 42 starts last season.
At No. 123, the Blues went with Vladimir Proskurin of MHK Atlant Mytishchi. As alluded to above, he had a great year despite his 14-21-1 record. He had 2 shutouts in his first full campaign with the club, and is projected to go another run with them next season in 2026-27.

This is another goalie added to the lengthy waiting list to make their way up to the Blues. Jordan Binnington is very likely going to be the backup for Joel Hofer next season, but after the 2026-27 gauntlet is over, it will be a rat race toward "The Show".
For Proskurin, he is now at the back of the line, and ahead of him are some solid contenders. Will Cranley, Vadim Zherenko, Georgii Romanov, and Love Harenstam are a big group of goalies awaiting their turn to move up. If he continues to put up the numbers he did at the MHL level, and transitions that to the elevated KHL level in Russia, he could have a much clearer path to Springfield, at least.
With some more picks to go, will Armstrong go back toward the forward group? They have been untouched today with the Carlo trade and first two picks of day two, in Luke Scherier and Landon Nycz.
