The St. Louis Blues shredded their old core up like paper and tossed it into the fire to bring in a new wave of younger talent. One of those moves involved Jordan Kyrou going to Washington, and the return should outperform what he brings to the Capitals.
When thinking of Kyrou and his legacy with the Blues, there are opinions on both sides that speak very loudly. Some say he was a fantastic goal-scorer, and others say that he was more of a liability than an x-factor.
Either way, No. 25 left a lasting impact in his eight years rocking the Blue Note on his chest. Let's take a look back at his legacy and some of his best moments on the ice.
Dependable goal-scorer
Aside from a really lackluster 2025-26 season, Kyrou was a solid winger for the Blues for much of his tenure. He had three straight 30-goal seasons, peaking at 37 goals in 2022-23, and was also a frequent flyer of having over 70+ points. With that being an oddity in recent years, namely following the Vladimir Tarasenko era, No. 25 was a valuable piece to have on this roster.
It is a shame that it had to end with a really rough exit out of St. Louis that included a benching by head coach Jim Montgomery on November 6, 2025. Half wake-up call for him, but also the rest of the team, it did work for a little while. But, ultimately, Kyrou just could not get himself together last season.
He now moves on to Washington, which also grabbed Alex Tuch from Buffalo to help bolster their top-six group. The Blues were able to get Connor McMichael and use the draft pick received to draft Maddox Deganais, who has a serious upside as the next great 40+ goal scorer.
Best games
Kyrou has had a couple of monumental games in which he has put this team on his back to victory. Here are a couple of the best ones.
Back in the 2021-22 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Kyrou was able to pot two goals against Minnesota to tie up the series at two games apiece. This was a big win at the Enterprise Center, as the Blues went on to manhandle the Wild in games five and six to close out the series.
Coincidentally, of the five career hat tricks for Kyrou, three of them happened in March in 2023, 2024, and 2025. All of those also came on the road, as he only had one instance of scoring three goals in a single game on home ice during the 2023-24 season against the New York Rangers on January 11, 2024.
