The St. Louis Blues have a long summer ahead of them. With two big events getting set to happen in a month from now, there is another opportunity for this franchise to try to make itself better.

As things stand right now, the opening night roster for the 2026-27 campaign is almost set in stone. There is not much more that can be changed around, with the only exception being some prospects really wow'ing the front office in training camp and the preseason.

We are gonna likely run this same kind of story a few times this summer, with changes and adjustments.

Let's get it started.

Lineup that makes the most sense, right now

This is pre-draft and before any moves during the free agent frenzy. It is just who is under contract right now, or very likely to be brought back. There is also a potential trade that could happen very soon to really set the summer on fire.

The lineup that makes the most sense is as follows:

Forwards

Dylan Holloway

Robert Thomas

Jimmy Snuggerud

Justin Carbonneau

Pius Suter

Jordan Kyrou

Jake Neighbours

Dalibor Dvorsky

Pavel Buchnevich

Nathan Walker

Jack Finley

Jonatan Berggren

Defensemen

Philip Broberg

Logan Mailloux

Cam Fowler

Adam Jiricek

Tyler Tucker

Colton Parayko

Goaltending

Joel Hofer

Jordan Binnington

Jonatan Berggren is up for a new contract, but it is very likely that he will be brought back. At 25 years old, the fact that he was able to have such an impact right away once he was acquired makes this extension a no-brainer.

Jonathan Drouin, who was brought over in the trade with captain Brayden Schenn to the New York Islanders, still has a year on his contract. But the Blues should explore a trade for him at the NHL Draft at the end of the month. He has a Modified No-Trade Clause, with a five-team No-Trade List.

All signs are pointing toward Justin Carbonneau and Adam Jiricek cracking the opening night roster, which would be a great thing to see. Both are anticipated members of the future core of the Blues, and getting them started now, whilst this franchise is in a re-tooling stage, is the best timing.

Joel Hofer is going to be the top-guy going forward. The torch has been passed from Jordan Binnington, and he could very well be seeing himself suiting up in another uniform at some point next season.
