The second day of the 2025 NHL Draft is underway, and the St. Louis Blues are looking to capitalize on their monumental first-round pick, Justin Carbonneau. We can only imagine what day two will bring.

So, what does the day look like as a whole, what has to be accomplished? Let's dive right into it.

The Blues have two picks in later rounds

The Blues currently have the 147th pick in the fifth round and then the 179th pick, which is in the sixth round. That is what it is right now, but General Manager Doug Armstrong might have something up his sleeve. He did not get a couple of votes for the Jim Nill award for nothing.

That being said, there are some good prospects that could be gained with those two later-round picks. As the Blues are still trying to find their second-line centerman and some help on the defensive end, this could be a great place to find a diamond in the rough. Some mock drafts have showcased defenseman Edison Engle from the USHL, as well as Nathan Quinn, another prospect out of the QMJHL.

What else can they do today?

With free agency right around the corner, Armstrong and company can try and finish what was started last season by making a Stanley Cup contender, now. They can use this draft to build their future, but the important thing to remember is that the Blues are trying to win as soon as possible. These picks are just supplementing their future.

Jordan Kyrou's name will continue to float around social media as his No-Trade Clause kicks in on July 1. They absolutely do not have to move on from him, as he is developing into a superstar talent that could lead the stacked right side of the offense. The Blues still need a center to man the second line, and the pending absence of Torey Krug and the potential retirement of Ryan Suter are two holes on the blue line.

The focus is on the draft, but that is only at the forefront of all the other negotiations going on behind closed doors.
